I disagree. It's far worse when it is on the display because it is buried in the price.

95% of people don't know how much tax they pay on each gallon of gas. If they posted it on the receipt, everyone would be a hell of a lot more angry.

In Europe, it's hidden even more, you don't see it at check out either.

sales tax is state. It's still a rip off, but of all teh taxes you pay, it's the one that you see the most benefits from (probably) lol

Sales tax then city or county tax.

Lived in a city with a 20% sales tax, didn't buy anything inside the city due to that.
