The fact it's not common is how they are so profitable. Anyone concerned about this should simply save the money for themselves. This way, you get to spend the money if you ultimately wind up not using it.

The thing is the dealer will try to sell you a new car over using the warranty, so even when you could have used the warranty, the dealer (usually operated by a jew) will still try to force you not to use the warranty
