Not legal advice: Don't cop a plea unless the prosecution will guarantee that no further charges will arise from that incident.
Yep. You accept the plea deal then suddenly there's an extra charge and boom, you're serving your 10 years of probation or whatever in prison.
I have a friend that went to prison for conspiracy to distribute. The girl that flipped on him got released from federal custody, then was immediately arrested by the state government and charged with exactly the same thing she thought she was getting out of by getting my friend locked up.
Can you explain more about what happened? I believe you but "charged with exactly the same thing" is throwing me off.
Also, conspiracy to distribute sounds like a trumped up charge. "You discussed distributing drugs with other people but never actually distributed drugs."
