I'd say Whites are a lot more calculated and carefull that they assumed.

The reason there was no major backlash is that even the most gullible among us had the gut feeling that something wasn't right about that whole mess.

How it should have went for the Whites to rise and intervene:

Nigs Riot->Police intervention->Police Fail->Whites come to assist Police->Solve the problem together

How it really went:

Nigs Riot->Police intervention->Police stand by and watch the rioters->Some White come to assist->Police arrests THEM->Other Whites realize something shady is going on and government is backing up rioters
