Early on, the opticians confirmed masks (then) were required. After saying I could not wear a mask, I politely said I had to cancel for that reason. A year later a non masked was accepted, the staff are still wearing them mask + face shield. I suspect the boss himself has a co morb. Again, early on in the panics, I walked into Greggs (pastry, snacks cafe UK) a door-greeter said to me card only not cash. Without stopping I wheeled about turn and at the same speed walked out. But before I had exited the threshold the same guy said oh but we can take cash.... Result. And I was hungry. A local eatery wanted names etc and the barmaid was taking temperatures... We just sat down. The staff took no further action, however two (ex ) friends did not want to sit with us as arranged because they did not want to flout rules, and we might have had covid (LOL) Yes, ex friends, and self demonstrated well educated but missing a thinking brain. I did used to wonder what the new coming world would look like, and by what method it would arrive. There is less mystery now. A neighbour was just buried, and another long term friend also (same day). I recently heard that the eatery we had trouble at very nearly went bust. Probably because we stopped even thinking about going there. LOL
