In the late 1940s my uncle left the service with both arms completely tatted up, then later wanted to go into the ministry, and he did, and he could never wear short sleeves again. Dear young people, don't be idiots. How you think them tats are gonna look when you're 75? Beam me up.

In fairness to your point, tattoos were a lot less common back then and he didn't cover himself in sleeves or try to look like some thug gang banger wanna be.
