Not your official call sign, but a nickname.

Mine will be don martin.

You will be able to confirm this in the event of war, I will provide the plaintext that generated the following SHA512 hash:

6aec72da3322546a5ffb0fb103011e0ab3965297679a34203bb01f6a8837180bf3516d24e0d197394df9eb583c02a803f3c96cb92eebbd595c125849a45b2e73

edit:

for generating your own hash/plaintext identity verification, go here:

https://emn178.github.io/online-tools/sha512.html

You take some secret text, paste it in, copy the hash, and share the hash here.

You can then confirm your identity later on by sharing the plaintext, which any of us can put through the same hash tool and match it against the hash you posted.

So for a broke single mom to get into this.. do any of these(www.hamradio.com/used.cfm) sound good? What would i need? Watts and accessories?

Anything that can receive and transmit on 420 – 450MHz is going to work in a pinch. Key takeaway is to make sure you have plenty of line for an antenna.

Kenwood radios are a good start.

Thank you! How long do you recommend? Do they have to be specially made antenna lines of can they be repurposed line of some sort? Is there a good forum for amateurs?
