Always looks like a fast track to mental illness to me? life may be poorer, but at least it's not having zero friends you can trust and an excess of cocaine for the sake of the people/marriages involved, just limit the prize to say 40K/year/for life, then people can go off and paint landscapes instead of doing an office job, that would be a pretty nice life without all the chaotic downsides.
