I know someone who works in a private psychiatric facility. They have a patient there who was placed by a very liberal county. That county takes a very strong stance on patient rights, saying that a schizophrenic can not be forced to take meds and must be given condoms for sex with other patients. This patient has lived there for years and refuses all immunizations, including annual flu shots. He doesn't want to be touched, just left alone. Now that county is saying that the patient MUST be given a Covid jab against his will, even by restraining him! The patient has no close family, so he has no one to fight for him. The staff is conflicted about it. All the staff is jabbed to keep their jobs but many understand that this is a cruel hypocrisy by a liberal government to strip a helpless man of his last shred of self-determination.

While it appears the NHS (UK) allows psych patients bodily autonomy and the right to refuse. Looks like an issue that really needs attention so citizens are aware of their rights when it comes to psychiatric care.

Doctors in the US don't believe in bodily autonomy for anything.

Pretty much, it's about that almighty dollar.
