This is now the Australian section of the Daily Mail

Were you stunned by the results OP? Did it change your life? Do Doctors hate this one neat trick? How much is your house worth...?

I dont pretend to know wtf your on about. Its thursday nite here and Im fixin to go to bed cause I got to get up at 4am. Ill be sure and let ya know this weekend though.

It's a well known DM meme, every day there is some stunned Australian housewife who (cleans something) with baking soda and vinegar

EVERY

SINGLE

DAY

[–] 2 pts

ahhh, didnt know that but its not surprising. Im kinda a dumbass.

Citric acid works better than CLR. You can buy the powder online or in a home brew shop.

Mixing baking soda and vinegar is pointless as they're counteracting each other.

The physical action caused by vinegar and baking soda bubbling furiously breaks up stuff.

Not unless there's a way for it to build up pressure. If the hard water deposits would even allow pressure to build it would mean there was no way for the vinegar and baking soda to penetrate.

You gonna make a vinegar and baking soda volcano?

[–] 2 pts

Their used to be a product on the market called CLR - Calcium, Lime, Rust (I think) remover. Put some in a cup or bowl and soak the shower head for "awhile" (don't remember how long) to remove junk.

Is this still available?

[–] 2 pts

Yeah it still is, I thought about it but the other was immediately available. At any rate Im gonna try it this weekend. As far as i know none of those are a problem, Im actually confused why it looks so bad. Still works fine.

[–] 2 pts

I'd just go buy a new shower head.

[–] 2 pts

been there done that

How about a water softener? Our water is always different because we move around every few months. I just used a tooth pic to clean the little rubber jets/openings. All it did was push all the crap back into the head and now it's clogged again. For sure post your results.

Im on county water now. Its not a lime or calcium thing. I dont think, its alot darker.

[–] 2 pts

Why are you neutralizing the acid in the vinegar? The acid in the vinegar is what cleanes your shit.

[–] 0 pt

It worked, its what the internet told me to do.

[–] 1 pt

take off the shower head and just soak it in vinegar (or sulphuric acid, or muriatic acid, lol)

Or bag it with a rubber band while still attached

[–] 1 pt

Im gonna take it off and soak it for a few

Don't add the baking soda. Adding something alkaline to something acidic means the acid loses its acidity, making it less reactive against the hard water buildup.

Try bleach and ammonia
