Uh, no, they're not contradictory in any way. The first refers to the idea that if you embrace one idea of a group, then you must embrace all of them. To wit: In order to be a good feminist, you must be a BLM, LGBT, etc. ally. The second refers to absolute loyalty to your group no matter what. They're not mutually exclusive in any sense. In fact, the first feeds into the second.
I was under a completely different conception of the differences. Namely that tribalism is identity politics in the small. And intersectionalist is the dissolution of identity in favor of big tent movements.

I don't know how to be any other way unless you teach me or force it. A lot of it has devolved, as you say, into regurgitation lately, because I think I've stopped trying at all.
