it is not the embodiment of chrstian theology at all. it merely points out (correctly) that if you have more love for money than love for Christ, then you don't actually love him at all. you worship a false idol. it's a warning for people to consider.
I don't agree with you twisting the words into a Jewish slavery slogan, because that's not what it intends to convey.
