It takes a lot for me to finally reach the point of wanting to block someone as I don't typically pay attention to the names beside comments.
Only when I see consistently retarded comments that add nothing to conversations do I usually finally start to notice recurring usernames attached to them. End of the day, I'm not trying to create a filter bubble for myself necessarily, just enforce a certain personal level of desired consistency in comment quality.
The key is it only affects me. No one else. I'm sick to death of enforced global censorship just as much as it sounds like you are.
