My neighbor was stabbed by his step son. He was outside his door laying on the ground bleeding. I grabbed gloves and a towel and went to my door. I don't know anything about medical aid but I figured putting pressure on his wound would at least be something. The cop outside my door smirked at me, told me to stay inside and leaned against my door so I couldn't leave. She watched him bleed out and die over the next 25 minutes. It was awful.

I don't think it's a control freak thing often. I think often before many get jaded by to many bad calls. I think many join to be peace officers and to make sure it's safe for children to play outside or cross the street or not get raped. I think it's mainly they want to help make their world a better place by doing the right thing. I think many use the rules as a guide to their own judgement and they'd rather just you and them have a great day. Though sometimes there is an asshole that kills that wish during their shift, might even be a superior just reamed out by a politician like a mayor or some crony and then the shit runs downhill the rest of the day.

I just try to make sure I'm on my very best behavior with a smile, yes sir, no sir and thank you sir. I am a vet and my dad was one also and that makes the sir part second nature to myself. I tell the truth and look them in the eye friendly and respectful. Some parts of this country have shit police because they have to deal with insane, drugged/drunk out of their gourds shitty citizens. I really understand any frustration they might have and try never to accidentally add on to it.

Don't forget that 40 percent of them beat their wives.

So much this. They hear, see, are told, even smell something and it goes in the report.

The longer the conversation the more the officer may misremember what you said or fuck up the report in a way that might be vital to your freedom.
