This is the difference between wisdom and knowledge.
Wisdom is not the same thing as knowledge. And knowledge does not necessarily make you wise.
I have studied medicine, human biology, and psychology for years (academically and in my personal time). I concluded that transgender people are deeply mentally ill and we should not indulge them in their authoritarian tantrums. Instead, society needs to push back and put the onus on them to manage their primary locus of control (they seek to resolve their deep insecurity - their secondary locus of control - by controlling everything around them instead of addressing the underlying issues. They do this because they manically crave any sort of control in their out of control lives, like people who are drowning, reaching for anything to grasp in sight).
However, many of you oldtimers had been saying something similar to this, for years (not necessarily using the academic terms but the basic meaning is the same). It didn't require years of study to figure this out for you. This is wisdom. This is something years of experience and observation have given you. You knew this. You knew these mentally ill people were not to be indulged and pushed back from the beginning. You warned us. And here we are.
Be patient with us younger folks who do not have your wisdom. There is hope: we will figure things out and arrive at the same conclusions as you have when we are open to it. I know we can be frustrating, obstinate, know-it-alls, but **some of us eventually get there.
