You should too.

If I break down and eat some candy or cookies or some such, I will admit to being a homo. Right here. You can then tell the world.

I know. Amazing.
So far, 20 hours without sugar.

I haven’t quit, nor do I intend to abstain wholly, but in a recent (last 6 weeks) push for fasting and healthy eating, the desire for sugar has almost completely gone away. The few times I’ve tried something sweet - Twix candy bar, ice cream, or sweet tea - it has been disgusting; I couldn’t finish any of them.

Congrats on 20 hours.

What’s really helped me is focusing on the fact that food is fuel - nothing more. I don’t think it’s a sustainable mindset long term, but as I push to lose weight (down 17lbs in two months), I am very cognizant of what I’m taking in. If it’s not absolutely necessary, I’ll pass. Very few carbs, very little fried, nothing sweet.

Have your goal that’s attainable, and shoot for that. My advice, don’t worry about “forever.” Shoot for a month. If you’re still going strong, do another, and so on. At some point, I would assume you just stop wanting it.
