They made the F1-12 buttons require the Fn key, and the shit like volume and brightness adjustments are the primary function now. It used to be the other way around, as God intended. Now I have to press Fn + Mute to refresh my browser.

My pos lenovo work laptop was that way, but it has a "fn lock" feature to swap it to normal mode. Fn+esc on a p15.

Oh that's neat. I'll check if this one has that. It's an HP though.

You might have something similar in the BIOS.

Yeah, I'll have to check that. There's no Fn lock on the keyboard as far as I can tell, and Fn + Esc shows system information (files.catbox.moe).

This was expected. They are replacing white designers with niggers and faggots, who obviously have problems with using logic.

Because millennials were too stupid to figure out the FN key and it being used with the extra feature printed on the F# keys.

I don't remember the brand, but a few years back I used to plug in an old keyboard to my laptop and used that instead of the shitty keyboard it came with. Massive, clacky keys, and it was sorta curved to flow with the inward turn of the wrists/hands with what looked like a ramp toward the front of it. All the Fn keys. Number pad. Loved that shit.

You usually can invert that by going in your bios and checking the relevant option

I have a refurbished Dell desktop running Windows 7 that I bought on ebay for $600 8 years ago. It's reliable and I run no VPN no security updates. SpouseAnon just got an ApplePro laptop and it sits there and we both hate it. $2500 POS with 8pt headings.

Most don't have a numberpad anymore, weak.

You can usually change the function key default in bios.

Thankfully this one does have the number pad. I wasn't going to buy it if it didn't.

It's worse than that. I used to buy Toshiba laptops, then they started using "stylish" Mac looking keyboards that suck when you use them. The keys are crammed close together, the key travel is too small, the feel is squishy and they key configuration is awkward.

(Ps) I now use a Filco Ninga keyboard with MX black switches.

There really ought to be a "lock" key on any keyboard that has dual purpose F-keys.

The keyboard I use for my living room PC has no F-lock key, but it is the one keyboard in my life I actually use the mute/vol/brightness... stuff rather than the F1/F2/F3...

Every other PC in my life, those "helper keys" get in the way more than they help.

it’s because of apple. They should have a function lock, like a shift lock on typewriters. Or some sort of toggle method.

It's because of Apple. Apple always did it this way, and everyone wants to make an Apple clone. All laptops that are not business class or gamer are wannabe Macbooks for poors. My Razer doesn't have this problem. The keyboard isn't perfect, but it's got real F keys.
