Gerber is slightly better than the walmart house brand multi-tool (which in my experience are shockingly good considering the price). The quality multi-tool is leatherman. I think they even make one or two crappy products as well. One of my co-workers recently bought a good one and it's as solid as my 20 year old one. The only thing I don't like about mine is it doesn't have replacable blades on the wire cutters and mine are dented to hell. I could probably send it back for a replacement, but then I'd have to buy something to have on hand while it's being replaced. Unfortunately, leatherman tools aren't cheap. If I worked in a place where theft or loosing a tool was common I'd definitely prefer the Gerber.
