Not all moms can breastfeed even if they want to, and not all babies will breastfeed. Some moms can't because of illness or medications. Some moms die and the dad has to have formula. This is a big country with lots of people that obviously don't fit in the box in your imagination.
That is not the majority of the situations.
I don't know about that...babies need breastmilk or formula for the 1st year. The longest I could do it was 6 months. The biggest issue I ran into was dehydration and then having to constantly eat when I had no time to. Growing babies need more and more calories everyday. I honestly didn't have the time to take care of my kids, eat like a horse and take care of my house. I was losing weight when I had none to lose. So yeah even women who want to do it can fail at it at some point. And don't get me started on being a very shy person at the grocery store when the baby wants some boob.
But it is still reality. Nearly every mother I know wants to breastfeed , the only one who doesn't is about a drink away from being a lesbian , and wants nothing to do with the kid her one drink away flamer husband wanted and promised to take care of 100% .
I know 4 mothers who tried and failed, and I can verify at least one of those tried really fucking hard but just couldn't.
I know of 10+ that were successful.
But it is still reality
I know and I didn't mean to berate or discount women who gave it a solid effort without success. Unfortunately many women don't have a choice but to work, which makes the process very inconvenient, and adds even more difficulty to an already challenging process.
If all the ones who can, did, then there would be plenty of formula for those who can't. And that's before considering community breastmilk supplies (like what some hospitals have).
