I think that the point he was trying to make is that all these horrors that are getting common now were done in there streets there and then. The first tranny surgery was done in berlin back then, prostitution of children, all of it.. The book burning wasn't the governments doing, it was the people burning all the gay/tranny/degeneracy
People loved the man, not because their frame of reference was like America in the 80's/90s, but because their frame of reference is what we're starting to see now, but constant, in public, and horriffic poverty.. Any man or devil that delivers the people from that to some sort of prosperity (which was vastly more than the rest of the world that was still in the depression) would be beloved by his people.
I think that OP's point is also that "that's coming here too"
