Knew a guy who was a welding inspector for DuPont. He told me the company ran wide scale experiments allowing their welders to drink on the job. Was supposed to help with toxic fume exposure or something.

I question the legitimacy of your friend's story, sounds like a load of shit to me. Don't think any company would break the law by allowing alcohol consumption by employees operating dangerous equipment as an "experiment". If some dude got wasted, then blew himself up while welding, and then word got to his family that he was told by his boss to knock back some whiskey at the beginning of his shift, how do you think that would turn out for the employer? Why open themselves up to liability like this when they could instead simply pay some outside research firm to conduct this experiment under controlled conditions where reliable data could be gathered?

Welders, painters, carpenters etc. are notorious for becoming alcoholics as their body demands a solvent to help flush the toxic compound buildup in their systems. It doesn't suprise me at all that they would run an experiment like that.

Anyways I said Dupont, heard of them? They are top 10 megacorp, they can do whatever the fuck they want without worry of legal repercussions. That's like assuming the FedRes overlords will be held liable. They would certainly run experiments far worse on their immense workforce.
