I think because the post office isn't all totally retarded and compliant like the military. They were going to refuse en masse which would cause problems in shipping mail and goods. They did have a mandate from OSHA, they were going to but the supreme court struck it down, they said because it would cause issues, the post office isn't technically part of the executive branch either so it was like how the mandate was struck down for all private companies with 100 or more workers.

The reason I ask is Boeing is usually hiring, they're veteran friendly, and they recently dropped their mandate for getting the jab. They're a good company to work for if you can handle the bullshit of a big defense contractor.

I joined the Marines in 1969, there were 330K Marines. After Vietnam ended I knew several senior enlisted that had 16-19 years in, and when they went to re-enlist to get their 20 years, they were told, sorry, don't need you anymore. It seemed to me that the only ones that were allowed to re-enlist were the ass-kissers who were useless at their jobs. I got out in 1977, by then there were 120K Marines.

The guy I thought that got fucked the worst had been an LDO (limited duty officer). He was a SSgt (E6), during vietnam was made an LDO, after 5 years had made it to Major. After Vietnam he was reverted to an enlisted MSgt (E8), and 18 years in and was not allowed to re-enlist to get his 20 so he would get a pension.

So not many people know what a Military Retirement entails, or military pay for that matter. Simply put, at 20 years, you'll get half your Base Pay for life. So if you're making $80K will you get $40K post retirement? No.

It's Only your base pay. It's not food (~$350/month). And it's not your housing (based on rank/zipcode. Mine's ~$1400/month). It's also not any travel pay, flyer's pay, nor hostile fire pay from deployments. It's just your base pay.

Also worth noting that a few years back the military changed their retirement system. It's now 40% at 20 years, but they'll match your TSP (401k for government) up to 4%.

I thought of you guys when I watched the SOTU last night. Fucking Biden. Im an outpatient at the VA. I was waiting for them to require it to get treatment. She went in there with questions, and the nurse gave scripted responses that didn't really answer her questions.
