Anyone born after 1980 might struggle to understand this.

The right used to have a deep and reasoned understanding of race. The left condemned the right for this. Over time the right learned to live with the left by adopting left liberal politics outwardly while keeping their deep understanding at home.

Then the left intruded on the family via public schools, welfare, divorce, and other liberal policies. These and other tools cracked the family, giving the left access to everything within the home. Now the left could use your own family to threaten you into submission. It was no longer safe to hold your deep understandings even within the home.

One day a strange thing happened. The left discovered race realism. They didn't concede their error to the right, no of course not. They forged critical race theory to mold their newfound appreciation for race into a weapon against the right.

And then something incredibly stupid happened. Righists, mostly Republicans but not only them, cried out that "the left are the real racists". Thus conceding to the left that race is inconsequential, and thus losing their deep and reasoned understanding of race.

Recently the left discovered the power of censorship, and boy do they ever love wielding that power. How did Republicans and other rightists respond to having the power of censorship wielded against them? Of course they cried out "the left has abandoned the liberal principle of free speech." Thus conceding that censorship should not be used.

Here's the moral of the story. Now that all the knowledge and tools which were formerly exclusive to the right are now exclusive to the left, do not expect them to ever be returned. They'd sooner kill us all than return the powers stolen from us. Politics is literally a proxy for war, and war is a bloody business.

Okay, now I understand what you meant, re the left saying 'race is inconsequential' in the old days (probably why they made shows like All in the Family with target on the Archie Bunker character back then). The liberals granted themselves moral superiority points on that push to ignore race.
