Gotta rant a little bit. I’ve been doing construction/ remodeling my whole life. But I’ve been noticing a big trend over the past year or two where the homeowner wants to be hyper involved in the whole process of remodeling their house, to the point where they are a detriment to the job itself. I absolutely want them involved in the stylistic decisions and picking out colors etc. But they don’t wanna just see a finished product anymore and be happy about it, or even be able to point out the things they want to fix at the end of the job. They want to be there every day and be integrated into the process. This wouldn’t be a bad thing if they knew what the fuck they were even talking about, but they have a laundry list of things they want done when I show up to the job the next day and can’t accept that somebody who’s been doing in their whole goddamn life might know what the hell he’s doing. Things are done in a certain order for a reason. Nail holes don’t get filled till the end. The trim gets caulked after it’s installed and there may be some gaps that will get filled. Or even worse they just decide that they don’t like the flooring that we’ve already put down that they picked and just expect we’re going to redo it in between commercial breaks. That isnt how this works . They think they are experts because they watch a fucking TV show every night. People need to turn off the goddamn TVs and let people do their job. Now that I own my own business I’m starting to hate people more than I ever have. Don’t get me wrong, some people are super cool and and pleasant to deal with. But goddamn do these people love to feel like they are Joanna Gaines when we’re coming to do some minor bullshit in their dilapidated house.

Sounds like you gotta manage their expectations ahead of time. If you think they'll be one of those clients explain to them that things will look messy while construction is in progress and the final product will look different than when construction is going on. That there is a certain order that things have to be done in. If there is a contract that they sign, consider adding those clauses in there (AINAL). And when they start doing the thing you described, remind them of 'the talk' that you gave them before you started. It should help.

If that doesnt work, I think choking the fuck out of them may be a solution as well.

I dont do construction, per se; but i do remodelling of boat interiors and exterior painting and glass work. I have my own business and have been thinking more and more of moving into complete restoration jobs (as in, buying a boat that needs work, fixing up and selling, instead of a 'hey, call me and ill fix your boat' guy) The customer is the worst part of every job. Well, not every job, but moreso lately. Cocky cunts that know better than I. I think it stemmed from retards having extra cash and thinking they rule the world now.

I think in your situation you nailed it. There is a plague right now of people who didn't have a lot and now have a ton of money that they didn't work for. Especially boomers with retirement funds saw their $1M of retirement (or whatever) turn into $3.5M, saw their $400k house turn into a $1.5M house, etc since the early 2000s. Now they are retiring and have a boat load (i had to sorry) of dollars and they want people to be their servants. They should be buying land and other hard assets, but they aren't, they are remodeling and buying high dollar items.

You and i will see this end spectacularly, and is going to be really bad, but we will still be working age and skilled, while they will be elderly and worthless. If nothing happens from all the other stuff going on, at the very least they will die, and their kids will liquidate the stocks cause a huge decline. I think it is more likely that something else will happen first, but that is a hard clock that is set.

I think it's absolutely ridiculous that you're hating on boomers. Not every one is Scrooge McDuck. It's a huge generation of people that, believe it or not, built up the country you're in. They're certainly not as spoiled as millenials who REEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE for George Floyd.

Step off your boomer hate. You sound like a child. 99% of "boomers" slaved their asses off to not burden their kids with taking care of them financially. What are you 20? 30? 40? Which fucked up gen are you? dipshit

You're right but it is much easier said than done, when you're trying to keep a good reputation and avoid bad reviews. But you are indeed correct.
