Got 2 of these https://miaustore.com/us/ (large house) for the S.O.B. and she refuses to use them...screams at the world until she's given water from the tub......constantly, until it's hoarse. These fountains and the sensors work very well. (Also go the silver top for both)

Cats do prefer running water, instinctively, but they are also weird

the wife changes the water in those things 3/4 times a week. Doesn't matter, the only loss is from evaporation. Waste of energy/money. It's called dissolved oxygen, and all cats in the wild will seek out moving water and almost never will drink from a standing source. I'd venture it has to do with survival and bacteria growth in standing water.
