You have a food addiction, and unfortunately we need food to survive so it's a tough addiction to treat. You have to create a new relationship with food. Food is so you can survive, it is not for boredom, it is not a hobby. Eat portioned meals and do not reach for snacks in between, don't think about food unless it's been at least 4 hrs since your last meal. You need to be in caloric deficit to lose weight, eating less calories than you burn. So if you're sitting on your fat ass all day or not exercising regularly, and you're a grown man you probably need around 1,400 per day maximum.
My wife went on a keto diet, dropped 50+lbs. Bloodwork shows she is much healthier than before. I'm sure I'll be on that diet before too long. Whoever recommended it to you was correct.
But they were mad I didn't go ahead and switch it immediately and throw out months oerth of food that I've already paid for.
