A civil war means integrating the war fighting functions into your daily life and an end to the easy care free life that most of us are used to. The positive side of that is that in the absence of an all powerful central government with a monopoly on the use of force, multiple factions and even individuals can use violence to resolve issues. That will actually go a long way to resolving many of the issues facing our nation. The downside is that you or your family can be killed at any moment and pulling 24/7 security is labor intensive, monotonous, and draining.
Yeah, it literally means once you pick up a rifle, you don't put it down until you're dead or they are. Your life ends the day that starts. You will never be the same and you don't get breaks or rotation. You will have to fight everyday and never get resupplied or have relief. And the best part is, even if someone 100% agrees with your point of view, they will still call the cops on your position immediately.
