My spouse and I never bothered to setup a joint bank account when we married and periodically write five figure checks back and forth depending on who's making large purchases that month.

If I go to one of my bank's branches in the pasty suburbs to deposit one of these checks, funds are immediately available no questions asked. If I go to one of the branches in a "diverse" neighborhood, they are up my ass about who/what/why and 3-5 business day holds to make sure it's not forged.

Yup. Just in general, you get hassled less in white areas about stuff like that. It's pretty cool. High-trust communities generally tend to trust each other more. Who'da thunk it.
