I remember when the first truthers started to post on internet about 9/11 being an inside job. Some people become really mad, saying "you do not respect the memory of the victims". I still can't understand what the fuck did they mean. I hope those were shills bullshitting, because I can't believe people this stupid exist. Anyway, the same pro-vaxx bullshit "my vaxx doesn't work without your vaxx" really resembles the crazy ramblings of anti 9/11 truthers.

why do people were refer to as "agent smith" effect.

it's just the function of agents in the matrix like the person you are replying to said. smith is irrelevant. in fact, smith is less relevant because he becomes something entirely different.

Because it's an easier sell than explaining what it is every time you want to refer to it, or some clunky term like "matrix agent effect".

You say agent smith and everybody knows who you're talking about. The fact that he becomes something else entirely is as irrelevent as every Matrix movie they made after the first.

Most people don't think that far into it and immediately think of the scene where this concept is laid out. It's an efficient way to get the concept across without having to over-explain or get too deep into movie mechanics.

Think precision, not accuracy.

still think it's dumb and "matrix agent effect" or even "agent effect" works better than "agent smith effect".

the agent concept is laid out in the woman in red dress scene and even though it's agent smith's physical appearance used, morpheus still just refers to him as an agent and "them."

that character becoming something entirely different from the concept makes it weird to specifically use him for it.

Reading this I immediately think aspburgers.

The name sparks the image of his face which makes it easier to remember the scene. Just how brains work. Communication means using what the listener understands, rather than what you understand, and most people miss and forget a lot of details.

I can tell you're smart enough to have a blind spot for how most people think, which makes stuff like this frustrating. I totally get where you're coming from.
