I've had this conversation with more than one strong-independent-southpark-woman. Many of whom are, to be fair, relatively capable and competen compared to the retarded general public. And aside from the traditional wives who're fully in the "sex differences and specializations are great hoo-rah" camp and countable-on-one-hand uberwensch it's the same conversation every time.

Strong woman: "I'm independent and dont need no man".

Me: "Awesome. So you shovel your driveway?"

SW: "I have a snowblower."

Me: "So you maintain and repair your snowblower. Clean the carburetor, change the air filter, etc?"

SW: "What's a carburetor? I pay [a man] to do that."

Me: "Ok, what about maintaining your house? You can hang some drywall, mud, sand, plumb a drain, wire an outlet, tile a floor, and troubleshoot why your furnace's pilot light is out?"

SW: "What's a pilot light? I hire [a man] for all that."

Me: "Ok, not everyone is handy...is intellectual stuff more your thing? You manage the household finances, file your taxes, rebalance your diversified investment portfolio, etc?"

SW: "Eww math, I hire [a man] to do that."

Me: "So...you focus on a high-earning career to maximize your earnings and make it more efficient to pay someone to handle tasks outsude your specialty as a surgeon, engineer, CPA, etc?"

SW: "I work part time."

Me: (┛ಠ_ಠ)┛彡┻━┻

I'm all for women raising children, and all for women that dont want children to take on the traditional masculine roll of being part handyman, part earnings powerhouse, but being useless at both is becoming the norm. It's as appalling as soyboys who don't even own a wrench yet pretend to be independent.

I grew up in a culture where the women raised the children AND owned power tools because who else was going to teach their children how to use them when their husband was working? And when hubby got home he'd teach more useful skills (hey kiddo, it's time to learn to butcher a deer if you want venison this winter). These days it seems like the men are useless soyboys and the women are strong-independent-no-real-skills. What the frack happened?

Who the hell are you talking to?

Remodeled a house with my current husband (he wasn't even a fiancé then).

Supported my husband with my income (when he was just a fiancé)

Handle all the finances...have for 21 years. That includes investing etc...

Snow shovel, hand shovel, chain saw...yes even fixed them before.

I was the one teaching my husband carpentry to fix the house.

It's only been the past 7 years I have been able sit back and "be like most women" in that I don't have to do everything myself. I'm trying to show this man he can do this stuff too...if I kept doing it all...first I'd be dead and second he wouldn't have a chance to strut around with pride at 46 now with his fulltime legit responsible job, carpentry skills, and self taught mechanic skills. (I still do most of the diagnosing of problems) He was raised by a single mom and I had a navy seal for an uncle that was the male role model in my life, so you can't blame him much.

Thank you for kicking ass and taking names. I was referring to what's become the norm these days.

Darlin, catch a clue. He's referring to the majority. Of course there are ALWAYS exceptions, duh.

Women born after 1990 are useless. You are not one of them.

I guess my daughter is as rare as hen's teeth then, because she's the same.
