Local businesses should be encouraged by lowering taxes on them and cutting needless regulations and restrictions. But it's not reasonable to block imports, and exports mean wealth flowing into the country. I do believe that local and national businesses should be favored by all levels of government over international businesses, and that tariffs should be placed on imports that threaten to destroy local industries. A government should protect its own people. It should not be concerned with the welfare of people in other nations. That's not it's job.
