I don't know if the part of the movie The 300 about the spartans leaving the deseased babies out to die is true or not, but I like the idea.
This whole save everyone and save everything is reductive in an absurd way.
The downside to my preference is that once we allow this for children we will move on to the old and aged and I don't support that at all.

Also retarded babies. What’s the point of keeping them? We’ve all seen the kid in the wheelchair with his face paralyzed like he’s screaming at a ghost and his hands/arms paralyzed in the “retard” position on his chest.
Why are they kept alive? They can’t enjoy their lives, they’ll never contribute anything meaningful to society, they’ll never reproduce; they’ll never be anything except a drain on their parents and on society.
Why and when did we decide to start keeping them around?
