I bought some Red Maeng Da Kratom the other day and decided to give it a shot for the first time. Measured out a small 2 gram dose, mixed it with some boiling water, then drank it. The effects are quite pronounced and surprisingly calming. So far I have noticed some mild euphoria, pain relief, and increased tiredness. I can see why the FDA/DEA/Et al are trying to ban it. Can't let the human cattle self medicate without authorization from Big Pharma & their medical representatives known as 'MDs'.

I have used kratom for some time now with effects similar to those you describe. The Bali Red seems to work best for me. I use it only when the medical marijuana is not enough. There is a kratom extract that was available from where I purchase. The clerk, who was very knowledgeable about all things kratom, said it is very addictive. That sort of defeats the purpose of one benefit of kratom: easing off of opioids. It made it easy for me after being on painkillers for two years and then enduring two major surgeries.

I used it semi-regularly for a few weeks or so I think. I didn't experience any symptoms of dependence. In fact, I stopped taking it because I got too annoyed about the process of taking it. It was like drinking mud, really grainy mud.

Isn't it also fairly addictive? I haven't tried it before but I've seen people who like it say that it can become a problem

My understanding is that habitual use may lead to dependence. It is a partial-opioid agonist afterall. Though occasional use should be fine if you are able to control it.

They say it's like taking opiates... but that comparison only goes so far. If we were to take your standard vicodin and compare it to kratom, there's a huge chunk of "the feeling" missing from kratom. Kratom will not take you to nod-off land like opiates will. Kratom doesn't have that "dopey" component to it.

Is kratom like taking opiates? Maybe. Kind of. But, not really.

Try White Maeng Da. I think this is what they refer to as "pimp grade". In my experience, there wasn't anything like a sedative effect. In fact, it was just the opposite. I've only heard that it is sedative in high doses. I used it in place of coffee for a while and also noticed mild euphoria (I'd say just a little more than mild, but it's not comparative to other many other substances).

I liked it until it made me projectile vomit.

Kratom is seriously addictive guys. Stop taking it. Rehabs are getting flooded with people who can't stop taking it.

It is a natural, herbal medicine with great efficacy to treat many different conditions. There is a risk of addiction, but then again, anything that produces euphoria will be potentially addictive.
