I looked it up and it is only 5,343'. That's not very high, I once lived in the foothills of the mountains at 7,000' above sea level.

Hiked Mt Marcy back in June. Took the Van Hoevenberg trail up.
Dad and Mom took us 4 kids on that trip back in nineteen-sixty-something. It was a 22 mile hike. (I remember crossing over a foot bridge with a polluted stream ...a paper mill.. it stunk when we threw rocks into it) We never got further than the lean to at panther gorge.
It was years later that I insisted we should climb it again. We did. Me, my sister and my wife climbed to the top of Mt Marcy and we dragged Dad along. It was the end of August. It started snowing at the peak. But Dad never climbed that last half mile. He was content to see us reach the top. He just smiled and said he had had enough.
I miss you dad.

You should come out here and climb Mt. Whitney. It's 14,496 feet. It's a grueling, steep as fuck 11-mile hike. Done it a couple times.

I apologize. I try to be more mature…at my age it shouldn’t be this hard. But often, a very immature reply comes to mind before the stoic, wise reply I hope for. The latter normally shows up, and I’ll use it, but sometimes…. Not….
More seriously, though, that’s a helluva accomplishment. While so many are sitting around, taking this holiday day off as an excuse to start drinking early, eat a shit ton of food, then lazily watch niggers play a game, you’ll have done something to better yourself, and something you can take pride in.

That's pretty good but it's no Mt. Washington. I drove up it 10 years ago and got the bumper sticker for my Rav4.
