According to Robert Barnes, his lawyer David Hancock is pulling all of Kyle's strings. He cannot sue media and win. He is a public figure, damages suffered by him were cause by the state charging him. Media reporting and even lying had no additional impact on the damage to his reputation because you cannot drive his reputation value below zero.

Nick Sandmann was only able to sue because all of the defamatory damages were done by media companies lying and not any other agency.
