Midwives are already the safer option. Epidurals, pitocin, and all the other crap they give you to "help" is what leads to complications. Being surrounded by doctors and bright lights and medical equipment leads to stress, which makes the process more difficult.
Imagine you've been constipated for a week and have a big, compacted shit to take. The kind that makes you sweat and shake. Would you rather be strapped to a bed, with a light shining on your butthole, while the doctor and their attendants watch your progress
Or
Would you rather be in the comfort of your own home, free to move about as you please, maybe with the option of taking a hot bath or shower to relax you?
