Yeah but those efficiency standards were put in place by the government to look out for you and it worked cuz they're efficient and not burning as much of that awful fossil fuel! High efficiency washers are about water consumption, just like low flow toilets. Energy consumption hasn't changed a bit for any kind of washer.
