Just as an anecdote, iirc, Ford's entire fleet went to proper fuel injection in 1986. Before then it was all carburetors and throttle body injection. I don't know/care about the other manufacturers.

Thank god! Been a rough morning telling someone that microwaves have had turntables in them for decades and someone over 300 they are a fat fuck. But. A lot of my cars DO have carbs and I like it that way.
The last GM I remember seeing carbureted was my grandmother’s 1984 Buick Century.
When the EMPs hit, the only useful vehicle will be one with a carburetor, & a points ignition.

Uses an HEI distributor, no? That wouldn't work.
MFI dates back to the early 1900's. Airplanes used it during both world wars. Race cars using MFI as early as the 1940's. HEI distributers didn't show up until the mid 1970's.

They stopped using carburetors when the flux capacitor became popular.
1985-1991
1991 was first fuel injected dodge.
Mandated by clean air and efficiency standards which required precise measuring of fuel.
