Regardless of whether the round penetrates, hollow points create a substantially larger wound cavity than fmj, dramatically increasing the likelihood of death.
Since you shouldn’t even be aiming a gun at something you don’t intend to kill, it’s stupid to buy anything except hollow points for any weapon unless you’re going for target practice, in which case cost should be a prevailing factor
