Why on earth would the defense put their client on the stand? It unnecessarily opens him up to specific questions about his state of mind that can be twisted by a good prosecutor. Amateur move.
Yeah not taking the stand really worked out for Chauvin /s
God himself could've testified for Chauvin and it wouldn't have mattered. He was fucked from the get go.
A booming voice echoes throughout the hall, a ray of like shines in through the window "IT IS I, GOD, I AM HERE TO TESTIFY ON BEHALF OF DEREK CHAUVIN. FLOYD WAS A NIGGER. THAT IS ALL"
My favorite user name of all time. I didn't know you were still around.
I am under the impression that convictions occur at far higher rates in cases where the defendant did not testify versus when they did. I think a jury often finds a defendant’s refusal to testify as evidence of hiding something
I'm well behind in the stream and haven't seen the DA cross examination yet. It's such a dumb idea to have him testify, they could have asked most of this stuff of his mom or someone.
Kyle clearly wanted to take the stand.
It'll give him a chance to blow away the prosecution as well.
Maybe it was Kyle's choice. We won't know until after the trial but if he was insistent on taking the stand then his attorneys have a legal obligation to allow him.
