As expected, i have a terminal condition and the guy could do virtually screw all about it. This wasn't even that surprising to me, there are diseases out there where there is no cure, no real way to fix them. He discussed a lung transplant is not really an option since I'm not dying or quite at death's door, however, the medication he gave me is absolute garbage. He also mentioned that a lung transplant is taking one pile of headaches, and replacing it with another, so even then, he still wouldn't recommend it. I do make some minor improvements on the medications, however, the guy pretty much told my best option is to move to a dryer climate state, and to just take meds. If they work great, if not, we're out of luck. If I decrease lung function later, than yeah, im pretty much screwed. I told him about working out and stuff, he said to keep doing that. But outside of a miracle from God, my prognosis is that I will be dead within around 5 years or so. I lose around 3 - 5% lung function per year, and i have 30% lung function left. This year alone, I went from a lung capacity of 43% to 30%. 2 years ago, I went from around 52 to 43% lung function.

5 years is better than no years. Take your doctors advice and move somewhere with better climate. Trying something different in a new place will at least be entertaining for a while.

Check out McMaster University Hospital in Hamilton Ontario.

There's a doctor chick in there who is growing replacement lungs from stem cells, so no organ rejection drugs.

She's been at it for a long time, and maybe has it figured out by now. Maybe you can track her down and find out where that program is at.

The proverbial second opinion.

  1. NAC--(N-Acetylcysteine) https://centersforrespiratoryhealth.com/blog/3-benefits-nac-supplements-can-have-for-copd-patients/
  2. L-citrulline https://www.webmd.com/vitamins/ai/ingredientmono-1245/l-citrulline
  3. Grape Seed Extract (GSE) http://www.opc-1-2-3.com/grape-seed-extract/benefits-for-asthma.html

I've been using citrulline and GSE for about 8 years, every day. I added NAC about a year ago. They make a huge difference for me.
Of course, do your own research. I have family in the medical field, and I hear stories about doctors. Virtually none of them know how to think beyond the standard protocols.

You don't mention the cause for the lung problem. If it is viral related, you may want to try Ivermectin. No harm to try.

Jeezums, how are you working out now at 30% lung capacity?!?!?

I'm shocked they don't have some kind of PAP machine to dry your shit out.

Funnily enough, he asked the exact same question. They pretty much said screw it to a BiPap or CPap, or any kind of supplemental oxygen

Why won't you move? Just too old and stubborn? [Not saying it's a bad thing]

Actually I am, I'm moving to one of the most remote, bumble places America has to offer. It's not Maine, but it's up north, with a whomping population of a million for the entire state

Have you tried going the naturopath route?

I don’t think you’ll miss much with how the world has unfolded. Take it in stride with your chin up. Best of luck to you.

What's causing your lung capacity to diminish?

[–] 1 pt

A severe birth defect that trashed a bunch of the lungs at birth, eventually morphed into chronic bronchitis and emphysema. I'm once of the very rare cases of emphysema caused by non smoking means

You should probably just quit smoking meth.
