I work at a munitions mfg plant. We are braking records every day. Who ever is buying it (Walmart, government, any other big bulk buyers) has to be stashing it and slowly releasing it to the market. Look up day codes on ammo in stores. I'd be willing to bet there is quite the lag.

About a month ago I was in a Cabela's right when they wheeled a pallet of 9mm out from the back. Sign right on the pallet "5 box limit" but there was a line of people already waiting. Each person picked 5 boxes and walked to the register. I watched about 50,000 rounds get sold in about 30 min.

There is no Ammo shortage. There is only very high demand. Americans know what is coming

Man, I love the gun crowd at Cabela's.

I once watched them sell about $100,000 worth of rifle scopes over the counter in about 30 minutes.

Think of it like the reason diamonds are expensive. I hear management complain that stores aren't getting product on the shelves for various reasons. "Can't hire anyone to stock the shelves" is one I hear a lot. Just blame "covid" what ever the excuse I'm telling you it's leaving our doors and not making it to the shelf

I understand what you’re saying, I’m just saying that I’ve been stockpiling as much ammo as I can. If 50 million other people are doing that too, what would be happening at your factory? Exactly what you’re describing, right?

It’s not that the ammo isn’t hitting the shelves, it’s that it all gets bought within hours of hitting the shelves so the vast majority of people never see it

Anyone who complains of an ammo shortage needs to learn how to reload. First you buy a reloading kit with the dies. Then buy your projectiles, primers, powder, bullet & case lube, and brass then load your own rounds. Follow published loading data from reputable sources. Don't double charge your cases, don't seat & crimp bullets without charging the case (or else you'll get a squib fire, very dangerous), and do not deep seat the bullets or you're risking a catastrophic failure. Homegrown ammo is also more accurate with more consistent velocities whereas factory ammo often varies a bit.

I've got a friend who shoots 3 gun and their whole scene is having trouble finding primers you might come across a few but they are basically unavailable to lots of people.

I just checked the websites of a couple LGS stores near me, and they're mostly out of stock. Feels like there is some fuckery going about. People are definitely hoarding.
