Its funny that I've tried having this conversation with idiot liberals* before regarding the amount of food wasted by restaurants based on when I used to work at one.
Even currently with the amount of food being thrown out and wasted from UK farms, there still isn't a food shortage.
Wee make far more food than we need and simply throw it away rather than giving it away after the frankly ridiculous sell by dates. Most food is still safe to eat after the sell by dates, but it still needs to be wasted rather than given to poor people.
And then the globoment wants to blame poverty on rich white people.

The issue with Africa is that Africans have zero IQ.
Free food would actually benefit a developed society from increasing morale and reducing stress, leading to more productivity.
So free food is only beneficial for a society of high IQs, a society which does not exist, ergo free food is in reality an accelerant of poors.
There is no such thing as free. Somebody is paying for that food, and it's consumers who pay the markup on food they buy to cover the food they don't. Giving away anything without charge doesn't benefit anybody except the one doing the giving since they now have a axe to hold over the recipient's head.
A lot of expiration dates on food are really too short, so you'll throw out the food on your own, only to buy more.
A good portion of it isn't expiration but best by which means nothing. A pork shoulder that sat in my deep freeze, as long as I don't die bleeding from my ass, is still perfectly fine 10 months later. 1 week into chipping away at it, and I still haven't died bleeding from my ass.
