I hate Amazon and Walmart, but I won't say I never use them. Pick your battles.

yep, and i should have picked this $35 battle, but i wanted it before two days. Hard to drive early in the morning without tail lights.

They're so massive it's impossible to avoid. But they get their wealth and power from meatheads who solely rely on them for literally everything. Even food for fuck sake.

No joke. I hear more frequently about these fuckknobs bragging how they get their groceries online along with "wHy DOn't ThEY dEliVeRrrrR Muh GroCEriiIiiEs?!"

amazon used to have good, name brand stuff at a good price... now since the foreigners moved in, there is so much aliexpress/taobao/seriously knock off fakes on there to run away from amazon all together

car parts are listed by name brand

[–] 3 pts (edited )

i just meant anything on amazon, for car parts i usually go through rock auto, several online OEM places like dealership part centers or local for core charge stuff (i.e brakes, battery, anything regular replacement that's not worth the return shipping) I did hand it to autozone though, i needed a brake caliper ASAP, the est. shipping was 2 days out, someone overnighted it and got it next day, and this is for an old toyota that there's not too many parts around in this area, so that happened.

Rockauto is better than amazon for auto parts.

And amazon beats them from the same sellers, look everything on amazon isnt them. Its sold by others. These days price matters. FTW

A lot of their name brand stuff is counterfeit Chinese crap. They get away with it by comingling inventory of third party sellers with their own. If they get busted selling counterfeit merchandise they just say, "oh, that must have been one of the third parties that supplied it." They can't say which one, either. Genius racket.

This.

This is a massive problem with so much they sell. Besides all the straight up Chinese junk , the counterfeit problem is waaay bigger than people realize. I’ll bet at least 20% is fake at this point. Batteries, tweezers, clothes, vitamins, components…. So much fake. I’ve had to send a lot back lately, years ago it was near zero.

I bought a phone battery from amazon. Exact same numbers on each battery everything matched except it was 1/8" too big. Chinese crap.

Check out Rock Auto or jc whitney

Rock Auto?

I need it now, napa was 5 days, amazon was two. Orielys has it tomorrow morning. I should have checked amazon earlier. Rockauto is a good place to look up part numbers but their shipping, especially if its from different warehouses kills them.

I understand. Spent 5 years behind the counter. I'm honestly not a big fan of rock Auto. Like you said their shipping is kinda crap and if you need it now, you need it now. No car quest or advance in your area? Also, I'd never count out the dealership. They've become more competitive with the retail chains over the years.

Nah, small town just napa, orielys and an independant Napa just sold to a dif person? So they kinda suck now for looking from others. Its surprising orielys built here.

Ebay? Rock auto?

Have you considered going OEM? May be a better idea to get the OEM version due to better fitment and quality. I've been shafted too many times by third party parts.

No, never.

Ok.

Do you think they make all their own parts now?

[–] 1 pt

Yeah. Local Store lost my paid for pre order, and I can buy the same thing on Amazon for 20% less. the Local Store has hired absolutely unhappy nasty people. So... welp...

Ended up buying Volvo headlights from Amazon. Auto zone wanted $115, Amazon was $38. I could not see a difference from the OEM in brightness, color, and quality of construction.

Amazon.com operates at a loss and is subsidized entirely by Amazon Web Services. The entire company, along with its subsidiaries, are funded by AWS. The reason is that a loss in online retail is miniscule compared to the billions brought in each quarter, and that keeping a customer contained in the Amazon family of brands and services is more important than driving them away from a lost order, or a refusal of a refund. This is also one of the reasons why they can keep their prices so low, they purposefully low so the customer never has to leave the Amazon.com store.
