Smart people are often dismissed as crazy or they hide how smart they are. Why put a target on your head? Many people are very jealous of intelligence, just like money or status. When I first began correspondence with people that are much smarter than me, I thought they were some mixture of completely insane and supremely autistic but about more than just one or two subjects. Now I'm just fascinated.
