Good job in getting better, but next time avoid the orange juice. That much sugar is never good for any infection (or cancer, or life in general). There are other sources of vitamin C with much less sugar.
That much sugar is never good for any infection
And this is because most infections literally eat those sugars that you consume, right? They use it as fuel to continue their "attack" on your body.
So if you reduce your sugar intake, you essentially starve out some of the infection? Is this correct? I remember learning something like this in biology.
Yeah basically. Simple organisms run on simple sugars (no cellular respiration or fatty acid oxidation), and the increased metabolism in virally infected cells also take advantage of high sugar levels to fuel their viral replication. Cancer cells can “go glycolytic” and basically only use glycolysis to produce energy (since they need fast energy, too fast for the TCA cycle). Cutting down sugar starves those cancer cells. Also high sugar levels suppress your immune system too, which is seen to an extreme degree in diabetes. Just avoid sugar.
But I just now had a "tall mocha Frappuccino with extra whip."
Yes, and cancer loves sugar too.
