If you have concerns of looming mandates of some kind, do not just give up and quit. Make them fire you. Ask yourself this question: If, in the current circumstances, you enjoy your job but just don't want to wear the mask or take the shot, you will not want to leave one job and deal with the same shit. You have no worry of telling your future employer (although you should really be striving to make money without a boss), therefore, with telling said hypothetical new boss that you were fired because you wouldn't wear the mask or take the vaccine.

Do not worry about making a bad impression or something. Just stop doing the work and tell your employer something like, "the current rules are egregious and it isn't motivating me to continue my work with past fervor" or something like that. Make sure they know the reason your performance is drooping is because of the rules, but stop working so hard and stuff. Hell, if you aren't worried about the next steps in employment, just go in there ever day, sit at your desk and stare at your phone until it's time to leave.

Whatever you do, do not quit. At least take the severance.

I've done the whole corporate thing and watched nepotism first hand, in different jobs. From my experience, in the corporate world, people move up not by performance so much as how much their superiors like them. I had the best numbers in sales in my district, top 10 in the Midwest, but a literal beta cuck that loved my District Manager's baseball team as much as he did ended up in a spot that paid twice as much as mine.

I don't watch sports, I don't fraternize with people in the workplace, and I love not talking to people that don't align with my ideas. Every corporation wants their management and HR to promote based on performance and statistics, but the human need to please those we like will never allow. I am talking corporate here, not smaller business like lumberyards or shops and what have you.

It's always good to find opposing viewpoints. It not only opens your eyes to what NPCs are currently thinking. At least you know where they are at all times.

I'll engage in discourse with open-minded, sure, but they're rare.
