My friend got a job working in a shop environment for Mack Truck.

Today, he and all of the new hires were told "You must either be vaccinated, or be tested for covid weekly and submit your results. Otherwise, you cannot work here."

So what does this say? They're turning up the pressure on the un-shot. This is just an extreme inconvenience. Who the fuck wants to get a Q tip jammed into their sinus cavity every fucking week after putting 40+ hard hours in? How can they do this?

What the fuck happened to HIPAA? Does it just not "count" when it comes to specifically covid?

My friend is asking me what to do. He really needs the job (in a dire situation) but he is absolutely unwilling to bend his principles and take a shot that has fetal cells from a murdered fetus. This is admirable. If just half of the work force had strong principles like this, none of this bullshit would fly. He also has a pretty good reason for not wanting to be tested weekly- he's skeptical, and suspicious, that these Q tips coated in a strange, unknown solution might be contaminated with something.

Any thoughts? There's not really a whole lot he can do as far as I see. Until some lawyers grow balls and start resisting this shit on behalf of their clients, it looks like us wage slaves are at the mercy of our corporate overlords, and it's fucking frustrating.

Find a more based job I guess? Fucking sucks. My company looks like it might head that direction too. Tell him to start now to find a way to live more self sufficiently, as difficult as it might be. I'd continue to show up to work and force them to terminate me on the spot, and try to get something in writing with a signature or something, then go find a lawyer. Or take the alternative rout that includes tar, feather, and a noose.

He has a son and two daughters. He has no money.

This is how I suspected they'd apply pressure to the un-shot. "No shot? No work for you, have fun starving to death."

Yeah pretty much man. That's a tough spot to be in. If I had children my willingness to take extreme measures would be ramped up through the roof however. He can pack up and move his family to a more conservative part of the Nation. Does he have any other supportive family?

Nope, he's... I guess an "older" millennial? No supportive family, I'm his only real friend that he can count on.

Little tangent... I overheard some older guy talking shit about millennials recently. I couldn't keep my tongue anymore, I told him: "The world's a lot different now than it was when you were in your 20s. When you were in your 20s, you were looking to buy your first house. When we came into our 20s, we were looking to find a way to make it to next week. Don't compare our generations like this- I didn't build this world, I was born into it. You and your generation let things get this way. You raised the people who raised millennials. Any blame lies squarely at your feet."
