I have seen posters intimating on China taking over, buying US politicians, overly emphasizing Chinese intelligence and craftyness. I have a story to tell you. Years ago I entered into a business partnership with a wealthy bug man. We each invested equal amounts to kick the business off. I handled the books on the endeavor and I was honest. I also invested every dime we made in equipment for the business. Now this Chinaman was arrogant. He would brag to our workers about Chinese ingenuity and was quick to point out American foibles. He was accurate in his assessment of "our" issues. At the time American manufacturing quality was beginning to wane, the civil rights movement had a lot to do with that. It still did not sit well with the staff. After 8 months of not taking any profits he became disenchanted with our endeavor and decided he wanted to fold the company and split the equipment and tools. I had told him before I embarked into the business arrangement that I was not independently wealthy, nor could I rely on rich parents to bail me out and that once started I would have to see it through. So when he stated he wanted to quit because the business was not making enough I reminded him of that conversation. I then offered to pay back his investment in the company in the ensuing year, without interest to buy him out. He agreed thinking it would not be a total loss and he would come by every month to collect his payment. While there he would visit with the employees jovially shooting the shit but invariably pissing them off with his barbed observations. At the end of the year's time I made the final payment, true to my word. He was talking with the employees about how intelligent Chinese people were. Having no more use for him I remarked that I did not know about that. I told them a story of a Chinaman that worked for me free of charge for 8 months and meanwhile I used his money for 20 months interest free and that did not seem too bright to me. Ever see a china man blush? It's a weird mottled purple. He left abruptly with everyone laughing at his expense. I never saw him again.
