I've experienced this dissonance with coworkers. I asked a black coworker:
You trust the govt? Hell no. You trust the police? Hell fuck no. Then why vote for a candidate or party that wants to take your guns, leaving only the govt and police with guns?
He was quiet, and contemplated for all of 10 seconds before responding that they hadn't taken them yet. I pressed once more and he shrugged and conversing was done. Low iq is a factor, but I believe, for many, it's mental laziness. They won't put effort into getting an answer that would involve changing their world view. Too scary.
I have a buddy who is a skilled editor but refuses ti go into business for himself and instead talks about how evil the pursuit of money is.
Meanwhile he complains about the cost of everything he wants (booze akd drugs) and he cries about capitalism and how bad it is lol. He also had a brother but now he’s saying he’s a she and god forbid anyone say anything about trans people because then his sister brother doesn’t exists!? What!?
But he would get blackout drunk and confide in me about how he feels like his brother is dead now and how selfish he is and how his only brother abandoned him.
I wanna slap him and just grab his face and yell WAKE THE FUCK UP!
